| Angelus' first day of school |

I would love to say that I haven't updated because I've been crazy-busy, but that would be a lie. I haven't updated because it's been 110+ degrees for a huge chunk of the summer and I don't wanna do anything when it's that hot. Like, not even move if I don't have to. With no central a/c unit and the window unit we have seeming to only work part of the time the coolest place in the house has often been around 94-96 degrees. The past few days it's cooled down some and isn't so bad. Thank goodness.
The kids are in their 2nd week of school. Faith has taken to doing the whole echolalia (where she just repeats often and for an extended period of time but isn't totally sure of what she is saying) thing this school year. So, I am hearing more words come outta her mouth. Now for them to have some meaning. :)

We have genetic testing set for Oct. 11 (10-11-12...how cool is that?). It's one of the things I've been nervous about and put it off longer than I should have, but it is important information to have. We also had her review and goal planning session for the new year with her O.T. Faith did not meet one single goal that was on her plan over the year. The O.T. felt really bad about this, but I had to explain to her while Faith may not have met any of the goals on paper, she has made so much progress in other things. She is learning and doing better with coping skills. We are learning more ways to help her throughout the day. She may not be able to complete a simple task you sit in front of her, but we can now go to a store or to a person's home (and while she may make some crazy noises and different things) she doesn't totally flip out and she is generally just a happy kid. We are able to do normal daily functions/routines much easier these days. So, in my opinion the O.T. has helped provide us (everyone in the house) with much better quality of life. That's much more important than her being able to put coins into a jar. Yes. I get it's more than just putting coins into a jar. It's teaching her to follow direction and to complete a task. She is having a hard time with those two things, but I still think she's come a long way. Even if it doesn't look like it on paper.
Angelus has started 3rd grade. This is the first year he hasn't really cared for his teacher, but I guess it has to happen sometime. In a perfect world kids would never have a bad teacher, but it's not a perfect world. Tommy had his first experience of a terrible teacher in the 2nd grade and mine was the 4th grade.
We are packing stuff up and getting ready to move from a home we have lived in for almost 7years (the longest I've ever lived in any house). The place we've moving to has 4bedrooms with a "parents retreat" off of the master bedroom. It also has central heat and a/c. It's close to a park and to Faith's school. Very excited about that. It's just a much better/nicer house.
Hope everyone is adjusting to the new school year.
