THROUGH THE EYES OF A HURTING CHILD

THROUGH THE EYES OF A HURTING CHILD

We didn't ask for the pain.
We didn't ask for the hurt.
Why do you feel we're the ones to blame?
Casting a shadow to runaway from it all.
It doesn't matter what you do to others, it's their turn to pay.
Let it go.
You're not the only one hurting anymore.
The children are paying for a crime they didn't commit.
When will you learn a heart has to stop breaking?
Our efforts all in vain, or so it seems.
Wounds grow deeper, hide them away never to be seen.
Falling into despair, hopelessness maybe that will be easier.
You can't run, There's no where to hide........

From these eyes of a hurting child.

I wrote this a long time ago, and as I've gotten older and experienced different things in life it has such a different meaning now than when I wrote it.

What we did today.

It's a beautiful Saturday that couldn't be spent wasted inside.  So, my ever smarter than me kids drug me outside to hang out.

We built things

I can not get this to not be sideways.

went grand adventuring in the sand box

And had a great time hanging out there....then we came inside where we had sandwiches and the littlest one got to play in the bath tub as long as she wanted to today.

Two

Two posts in one day.  I know, I'm full of craziness.

Just wanted to point out that I am so thankful that when my daughter wants to act like her legs are broken, that they're really not. I am strong enough to carry her for miles if need be (and it's occurred more than one might expect this school year). I am also so thankful that my legs are not "broken" and I have two legs that function really well and no back problems. Some people don't have this luxury.  It's a thing that sometimes I just take for granted.  Being able to just load my kid up and walk with her if need be is something I am able to do without much thought.  I am still able to crawl around, climb on things, jump in and out of things with minimal damage to myself.  I am so thankful that my 33 (almost 34) year old body is healthy and I can do so many things that even other somewhat healthy people have difficulty doing.

That's all. Things in life could always be worse, but right now they're pretty good.

The kindness of Strangers

and of those who are not so much strangers...

Wednesday, I was on my way to get my kids from school when all of a sudden the truck started loosing power (I'd made it about 3miles)....and smoke started coming out everywhere. Now, I'm no *professional* in matters concerning vehicles, but I knew this was bad.

I was able to pull off at a gas station, the owners were okay with me leaving my vehicle there until we could get someone to move it, I was able to call my momma and she came got me and helped me get my little ones home from school.  During the time I was waiting on my mom (which wasn't more than about fifteen minutes), I had two guys from the "road crew" ask if I was alright and if I needed any help, two guys at the gas station that were getting gas ask if I needed any help and if I had someone that I needed to call and then another random stranger take a look at the vehicle and ask if I had someone on their way to get me.  I did. Trucks blowing up stinks, but having so many make sure you're okay and that you have someone to come and get you helps take the sting outta it.  Things even as simple as being able to leave my truck there without it being a big deal, and others offering up phones if I needed it.  My dad and uncle got it and brought it to my house, my momma helped take me around to get some errands completed yesterday that I really needed but wouldn't have been able to accomplish with no way to get there.  We now live really close to Faith's school and yesterday Faith, Angelus, and I took a nature hike to the school house in the morning.  Angelus ended up not going to school and hanging out with me doing errands yesterday.  This morning, he made it to school and Faith and I took a nature hike together.  And by "nature hike" together means, that she thinks her legs are broken and I carry her...she's tiny but after a little while 35lbs feels not so little.  We made it close to the school house and another parent there that had just dropped off their kids gave us a ride the last few hundred yards.  I know that's not too far, or really a big thing but very nice of them to do that and I am positive that very simple act of kindness will just stand out in my mind for years to come.

I got to walk back home and the weather is just absolutely beautiful.  So, not carrying a 35lb. kid around that thinks her legs are broken it's definitely a wonderful day to be out in nature.   So, even though parts of it all stinks it's just wonderful to see how many good people are out there. I mean, I always knew that....it's just even cooler when one gets to experience it.

A month in

Since I last updated we've moved, not too far from where we were but doesn't matter if you move 2 states away or 2miles away....always lots of packing/shuffling/sifting/ calling people to turn things on and others to turn things off.  If you have a family that has a specialAbility then lots of extra calling to make sure that everyone has proper addresses as they don't forward mail.  None of the places.

A wonderful couple friend of Tommy's and mine are adventuring in Alaska and let us take over their house while they're gone.  Gotta say, everyone in the house is a fan.  Angelus has his own room for the first time.  This past weekend was actually the first time he'd ever had anyone stay the night with him.  Faith is sleeping longer periods of time when she does finally fall asleep.  I'm about ready to ditch the potty chair, not 'cause she is potty trained but she is appearing to want to get trained on the "big potty".  I think this is fantastic.  A step in the right direction.  Tommy has his office half set up.  We have a ton of books and he has a ton of comics that will need to find their "own space".  I set the bowflex up in the "parents retreat" area, along with other workout stuff we have and just this morning I finished hanging photos in all the different rooms.

Since we got denied the communication device for Faith we've been waiting on something called the ChatBox 40+ since around May.  It will still help with communication a great deal, but it's much cheaper (although not covered by insurance if it's to get damaged or stop working).  Maybe it will show up any day now.  She is taking to school very well, still.  She has her aid with her about 1/2 the time during the day now and an older lady who hangs out with her while her aid is away.  The lady isn't much bigger than Faith. Sweet lady too.  Still I believe I need to investigate the whole FAPE thing and stuff a little closer to see what may need to be done for next school year and to ensure she gets her aid hanging out with her the majority of the time.

Angelus dislikes school more and more with each passing day.  Poor lil' guy.  Tommy and I are still discussing what needs to be done different to make it a better year for him.  I know everyone seems to have at least one or two school years that stick out in their minds as seriously stinking.  Sometimes it's because of the teacher, sometimes other students, and sometimes it's just that nothing seems to be "clicking" for ya the whole year.  We spent 4ish hours yesterday on homework he either didn't score well on or just decided to plain ol' not do. We tend to need to do something like this at least once a week.  I'm just not sure I think the headache of homework is worth it.  Probably not a real popular opinion to have, but I have actually done a ton of research over the years where they've actully not found homework to help increase test scores or even help with the whole "meeting a deadline" when they're older and in the working world.  So far, at least in our family...it just takes time away from family and makes everyone frustrated and way crankier than they oughta be.
